Privacy Policy.
This product works by analyzing your career history, so we'd rather be unusually clear than conventionally vague. Here is what we collect, what we do with it, and the three things we will never do.
00Who runs 1000paths
1000paths is operated by Andrew Woods, an individual doing business as “1000paths”(“we,” “us”). It is a sole proprietorship, not an incorporated company. If that changes, this page changes with it. This policy covers 1000paths.ai and the related services (the “Service”).
01What we collect
What you give us directly. Your name, email address, and account credentials. Your career profile — the professional history you paste or upload, which may include job titles, employers, dates, skills, education, certifications, location, and your goals. Your conversations with the AI coach. And anything you send us through a feedback form. You control what you share; only include what you are comfortable providing.
What we collect automatically. Product usage — pages viewed, features used, onboarding progress — via PostHog. And technical log data — browser, device, IP address, timestamps — used for security and debugging, including through our error-monitoring provider, Sentry.
Payment information. Processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number; we see your subscription status and limited card metadata such as the last four digits.
02What we use it for
To generate your path score, readiness analysis, gap identification, and route recommendations by comparing your background against aggregated career-trajectory data. To power the AI coach, which uses your profile and conversation history to give you specific rather than generic guidance. To send you service communications, which you can turn off at any time. To process subscriptions and provide support. To understand how the product is used so we can improve it. And to keep the Service secure.
03AI processing
Features like the career coach, narrative analysis, and resume tailoring are powered by third-party large language models from Anthropic and OpenAI. Different features route to different providers depending on the task. When you use one of these features, the relevant portions of your career profile and your messages are sent to that provider to generate a response.
Our agreements with these providers do not permit them to use your data to train their models, and we do not use your personal career data to train any public-facing model.
04Who else touches your data
These are our subprocessors — vendors who help us run the Service, each bound to protect what we send them. This list is maintained against the actual running code, not a template.
Your account identity, passed to us when you authenticate, plus anything stored by the running application.
The portions of your career profile and coach messages needed to generate a response.
Same as above. We route different features to different providers based on the task.
Your subscription status and limited card metadata. We never receive or store your full card number.
Pages viewed, features used, and onboarding progress.
Technical error reports, which can include the URL you were on and your browser and device type.
05What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. Not to recruiters, not to employers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
We do not share your identifiable career profile with employers or third parties unless you explicitly ask us to.
We do not post anything to your LinkedIn or any other account. Sharing features generate content that only you choose to publish.
06Aggregated and de-identified data
We may use de-identified, aggregated data — findings of the form “the most common bridge role for this pivot” — to improve our trajectory models and to publish research. This data cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
The career-trajectory database that powers 1000paths is built from publicly available professional information and is entirely separate from your private profile. Your data does not go into it.
07How long we keep it
For as long as your account is active. If you delete your account — in the app, or by emailing us — we delete your career profile, your coach conversations, and your personal information within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain records such as billing history.
08Your rights and choices
At any time you can access and update your career profile in the app, export your data by emailing us, delete your account and data through the in-app option or by emailing hello@1000paths.ai, and opt out of non-essential email through the unsubscribe link.
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA and CPRA — to know, to delete, to correct, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms. If you are in the EU or UK, you have the equivalent GDPR rights: access, rectification, erasure, portability, and objection. Our legal bases are performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interest in improving the Service. To exercise any of these, email us.
09Security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls, and sign-in is handled by an external identity provider so we never hold a password of yours. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by law.
10Children
The Service is built for working professionals and is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11International users
The Service is operated from the United States, and your data is processed and stored there. By using the Service, you consent to that transfer and processing.
12Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice before they take effect. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
13Contact
Questions, requests, or anything that reads wrong to you: hello@1000paths.ai.
